At least it provided a good excuse for a trip to Bute last week and I thought I'd post some photos of the Ettrick Bay tearoom where some of the action takes place ( in all the Bute books). I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has read either of the first two Bute books if the tearoom is as you imagined it?
The tearoom at Ettrick Bay
April at Ettrick Bay
Has the tearoom been there a long time, Myra? The outside of it seems faintly familiar to me though I haven't been to Ettrick Bay for years! Good luck with that editing.
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing with revision - once you see ne thing it leads to all sorts of other stuff that needs to be redone! The trick is knowing when to say "Enough already"!
ReplyDeleteThe tearoom has been there since at least the 1920s,Rosemary. I suspect it's a standard building of its type.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Pat,I think I might wait now for the editor's report in case I end up with a completely different novel!
Yes, Myra, the outside of the tearoom is as I imagined it. The inside is more modern. When to stop editing? When you accept the fact that nothing's perfect!
ReplyDeleteI almost had second thoughts about putting up the photos,Joan. Is it better to leave it all to the reader's imagination?
ReplyDeletePerhaps, Myra. Although it's good to link with reality too. It hasn't spoiled my enjoyment of the books, nor my anticiaption of Number 3 in the trilogy!
DeleteHi Myra, That's the fun thing about setting your books in a real place - you get to walk around your characters' haunts! I'm yet to start your books (first one is on my kindle waiting to be read!) but looking forward to it as heard good reviews from my parents. Good luck with the latest one!
ReplyDeleteThanks,Vikki-I hope the next one will be out soon.
